Halloween

This photo pretty much sums up our Halloween.

We had a fun, sugar-filled Halloween. Charlotte dressed as Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, her favorite princess du jour because she has a PINK dress. Lorelei was Anna from Frozen.

Each year Chris and I trade who gets to take the kid(s) trick-or-treating and who has to stay home and give out candy. This was my year to go (woohoo!) and Lorelei's first time trick-or-treating. Big sis had to be reminded about a gazillion times to SLOW DOWN and wait for her sister, but Lorelei did great overall. She crapped out about halfway, so I called Chris, who temporarily put the candy basket on the front porch and zipped over to pick up the littlest one.

The one house that Lorelei made it to before her sister rang the doorbell.
The neighborhood was like a giant party, with many large red plastic cups in the adults' hands. Me, I had a water bottle filled with a couple bottles of pumpkin ale (see how festive and seasonally correct my imbibing is?). Oh, sure, I have no doubt that some folks wanna get on their self-righteous high horse and moan and groan about setting examples for children and whatnot. My take? It's good for adults to have a fun time in the neighborhood community, getting into the festive spirit of the night, socializing and so on.

Because Charlotte was Aurora for Halloween, I made her an Aurora pumpkin. Hours of my life were poured into that squash, which now resides in a garbage can.

Chris, the lucky guy, made Lorelei's Elmo pumpkin. It took about 10 measly minutes to complete. Next year, I get to do the Sesame Street pumpkin.

Charlotte eventually came across one of her BFFs, who (oh, hooray!) goes to the same new school and lives a stone's throw away. They pretended they were sisters, held hands (it was so stinking cute), and (now freed from little sister Lorelei) BOLTED across lawn after lawn, obtaining mountains of candy. Pure glee on these girls' faces, and so fun to watch.

Chris put up some other autumnal pics on his little photography site, and I'm too lazy (let's call it "short on time") to transfer them over. http://www.thishofmannlife.com/Fall-Fun/

Now, who's ready for Christmas?!
