Baby Watch 2010
Close-up shot of the baby bump.
We have 10 days until the baby’s due date, but my doctor is a wee bit skeptical that we’ll make it all the way to February 6. Things are progressing nicely . . . but who knows?
Work has been a blur in the last couple of weeks. I was already super stressed as I tried to tie up approximately 17 billion loose ends, and my doctor’s gleeful update on Monday afternoon did little to ease the frantic pace Chris and I have been keeping in the office. My concern grew when last night I felt super funky and the Braxton Hicks (i.e., “practice”) contractions started radiating toward my back, but there was zero pattern to them. I eventually dosed off and woke up this morning feeling totally normal, so I was able to get in another day at work.
I have never hustled so much at work in my life! I’ve been forced to prioritize projects and details based on the question, “If I don’t come back for 12 weeks—starting tomorrow—what kind of wake would this leave behind?” It’s actually a good system, and slowly but oh so surely I’m getting through everything. Today I felt like I reached a major milestone because I’ve finally hit that point where, should Charlotte arrive tonight or tomorrow, no tragedies would occur. Yeah, some stuff would be left undone but someone could take care of it with little trouble. Just knowing that now things would be okay at work is a massive relief.
Chris had a big presentation today at work, so he’s relieved that Miss Charlotte held off on arriving until he got through the day. Of course, now that he’s relatively in the clear, he admitted to me, “You know what? I just really want this little bugger to get here!”
