At Home

So alert!
And. . . back to sleep.
Waiting for Dad to bring the car to the front of the hospital.
Well, Mums finally made it to DC late on Tuesday night, and she and Chris safely made the treacherous drive home in the snow. Mums is utterly smitten with this child, as we all are. She has been an enormous help so far, doing laundry like a madwoman, cooking, and, of course, rocking her granddaughter for hours and hours--often while Chris and I get some much-needed sleep. The first two nights at home were pretty challenging, but we're getting closer and closer to finding our groove. This kid eats like a champ and can sleep a couple hours at a time--even at night! She's getting increasingly comfortable being handled and now only screams bloody murder during some diaper changes instead of all of them. She has lots of facial expressions--half of which she displays while sleeping! She loves to be rocked and gets the most contented little look on her face as she doses off. All in all, she seems to be quite a good baby, which is fabulous. I can just stare at her for hours and hours at a time.

  1. Glad to hear you guys are settling in (and happy first week, Charlotte). Hope you can stay inside and avoid the coming blizzard.

Can I request a picture of Grandmums and Charlotte for a future post?
