Welcome, Little Girl!

Just starting life.
Charlotte Marie entered the world one week early January 30 at 6:40 on a snowy morning, weighing in at 6 lbs., 15 oz. We think she’s just perfect and can’t believe she’s ours. The delivery was pretty textbook, but there were a few dramatic moments. We came home from the hospital yesterday to a messy apartment (we had both worked late throughout the week), a million necessary baby items had not been taken out of the package let alone washed, and I was already extremely sleep deprived. (I had begged Chris to sleep Sunday night at home because the Hofmann women were going to be a handful come Monday.) This plus some breastfeeding drama made for a rough first night. I have never been so desperate for my mom to get here. She changed her flight to arrive today, caught an early morning flight East, and the frickin’ plane turned back toward Seattle after 45 minutes in flight due to de-icing equipment problems. That flight was then cancelled, but she’s booked on a direct flight out to DC. She should land around 10:00 p.m. tonight. And, as luck would have it, another 6 inches of snow is due in DC tonight--it's already snowing heavily, but her plane has to land. It just has to! It has been a surreal couple of days—I’ll try to update again soon!
