DC Countdown

Yesterday we signed the lease at our new apartment-to-be. It turns out that Chris works for a "preferred" employer (I heart GEICO), so we get 3 months free parking (and at $85/month, that's a big fat deal) and the security deposit was waived. Hooray! They were also running a special that got us off the hook for paying a short-term lease surcharge. All of these little things have helped me swallow the Bethesda-area rent just a bit more easily. After signing MORE documents, we braved rush-hour traffic and made it to Costco to pick up another moving kit (after a healthy dinner of hot dogs and pizza, of course). Packing is in full swing, but it's overwhelming. I'm trying not to freak out--it will get done. It always, always gets done. Then, tonight, we're doing our DC finale by going to 701, the restaurant on Pennsylvannia Avenue that we went to the night we got engaged (which was also the week we moved into the condo). We're getting all gussied up like it's our anniversary, and we'll toast (me with a shirley temple, of course) DC, the condo, Baby H., the Midatlantic, and Poolesville. Oh, and we never went out to celebrate Chris's promotion--so we'll squeeze that in too.
